At first glance, this picture just looks like a cliff face leading into a lake, yet turn the image 90 degrees and it takes a sinister twist. This haunting image of the skull-like face was taken in one of the Lake District’s most secret places, the disused Hodge Close slate quarry near Coniston, Cumbria.
